Cold days+hot chocolate=yum

It's a bright, crisp, beautiful January morning. A good day to take the kids to the park. Lil would spend all day on the swings if she could. I managed to coax her into going on the slide, but after about 3 turns she was shivering too much. I told her and Aid we should go home and have some hot chocolate, they whole heartedly agreed. My sis, Lee, got me a hot chocolate pot for Christmas, it comes with a small immersion blender that froth's the cocoa and makes it taste so much yummier.

I am having to constantly remind myself that I do not have to work tonight. I have the whole day to enjoy life, and I must say I'm loving it. A few chores to do and the day is mine.

Oh man, I drank all the cocoa....

I have to dig out the stuff to make Lil's winter coat, her flannel one is too small to wear sweatshirts under. This is a priority for me today. Dishwasher, load of clothes, cut out Lil's coat. Time to get started....

How do the poo

In a recent conversation with a dear friend, we got on the subject of breastfed baby poo. I mentioned that I remember my babies sometimes having poo that smelled very similar to microwave buttered popcorn. She laughed and said that her babes' did too sometimes. It was funny and refreshing to know that we were not the only ones who noticed this, and that we weren't crazy to go around sniffing our child's butts when someone in the house made microwave buttered popcorn. Then I wondered if anyone else has noticed this too. I asked a co-worker at work about his little one, but he couldn't remember. (He is definitely aware of the smell since his little one has started on solid foods, LOL!) So answer me this, am I and my friend selectively alone in this poo universe, or does anyone else remember this smell for a breastfed babe's poo.

Yes my Christmas tree is still up. I am enjoying this Friday, soaking in the feeling of an upcoming weekend, before I have to clean house. Here is a house cleaning fact...dirty laundry will breed like bunnies. If you so much as leave one-load-left-to-do in the laundry basket it will multiply 5 fold within 3 days. Of course having kids just encourages the necessary environment for this speed of reproduction to happen.

My local fabric store is having a sale this weekend. I plan on going. My husband has told me that it is one place he won't allow me to work, he claims my paycheck would be spent before I even received it. I have to agree, I do have a slight addiction. It's probably inherited....no just learned (Mom). Maybe that's why my mum had so many kids, always an excuse to buy fabric...LOL!

Here are some photos, because I running out of ideas to write...

Miss H. in her beautiful birthday dress.

Mr. N. showing off his specially made coat, and Miss N. showing off her new-to-her coat.

All sorts of sights to see at this special tree farm. You get a surprise at every corner when you pick out your Christmas tree here. The kids had lot's of fun, wish I had more battery life in my camera when we were there.

Well, the dang photos wouldn't load so I will try again. But now today is Sunday, and my Christmas tree is down. But laundry is still accumulating....I'm working on it, I'm working on it. I did go to the fabric store and found some very pretty fabric. I'm playing Harry Potter 3 in between, and I'm slightly addicted. I say slightly because I am able to walk away from it when necessary. 300 thread count 100% cotton sateen sheets are also comfy.

I'm craving potato salad so even if it means gas, I'm making it anyway. So if we are hospitalized for toxic gas exposure from a particular family member's gas (no names, it's not me) y'all know why. LOL!

The photos loaded this time, coool!

Random thoughts

Peanut butter is good, peanut butter cookies are good. Peanut butter cookies made so small as to fit into your cereal bowl, thereby calling themselves a cereal, are really, really good. YUM!

I have almost emptied my laundry basket, just 1 load left. And I did it by myself (Sarah, LOL).

Jen goes back to school tomorrow, I think it shall be lonely and quiet w/o her. But I'll get used to it again, hee-hee!

I have a fake Christmas tree, that means I can procrastinate pretty much forever about taking it down. But I won't...but I could.

Alicia makes some kick-ass lemon drops, right up there with McMennamin's.

I cannot find Alber's white hominy enriched grits. I know they exist, or did. My local grocery carries Bob's Red Mill corn grits(polenta) and yellow corn meal, or pre cooked polenta. Both taste good fried up and served with butter, salt, pepper, and an egg over easy. But what happened to the Alber's?

Dryer's done, I can finish my laundry now.

I found the cutest pattern to make Lil shirts. And then of course I found the cutest fabric.

I got a serger for Christmas, YIPPEEE! I think today my room will be clean enough to take it out and set it up. My husband spoils me....He told me we couldn't afford it, that was just a ruse. But he sure had me going.

I love knit sheets, soo comfy.
